Program Requirements:
To earn the certificate, students must complete a total of 14 credit hours, distributed as follows:
- FLGC 1150 Global Fluency and Awareness (3 credits)
- FLGC 3150 Global Fluency for the Workplace (1 credit) - This course serves as the capstone for the certificate.
- FLXX 1020 or higher (2 credits) - The second course in any language sequence.
- Approved Study Abroad or International Internship Experience (3 credits) - Students unable to participate in an abroad or internship experience may petition the program director to fulfill this requirement with an additional approved upper-level course.
- Course (3000-level or higher) in the major/minor (3 credits) - This course should integrate the topics of workplace intercultural competence with the student’s major field of study. Examples include:
- BUSI 3250 (International Business)
- CTCT 3000 (Leadership Skills for Personal and Organizational Development)
- FINC 3100 (Fundamentals of Global Trade)
- HOSP 4500 (Strategic Hospitality Management)
- MKTG 4400 (International Marketing)
- POLI 3100 (Introduction to World Affairs)
Other upper-level courses with an international and professional focus may also be approved by the director. Students are responsible for meeting the prerequisites for any course included in the certificate.
