Department of History

Scholarships and Awards

The History Department is pleased to be able to recognize student achievements and to honor many of our students with scholarships and awards. These scholarships and awards have been made possible by the aggregate contributions of many alumni and friends, some through small annual gifts and others as part of substantial endowment funds.

Students should apply both for History Department awards and for CLA awards through the Auburn University Scholarship Opportunity Manager (AUSOM) AUSOM allows users to search, review requirements, apply, and accept awards for available scholarship opportunities.

Brief descriptions of each of the awards can be found below; for more information regarding each award, especially the nature of the donation that made it possible, please follow the links to the left.

Please note that several awards for history majors require students to both apply through AUSOM and also submit materials to the History Department. Students wishing to be considered for the Malcolm C. McMillan and the George Petrie outstanding paper awards will also need to submit a paper to the Undergraduate Program Officer via email attachment or in the History Department office in 310 Thach Hall.
