From ancient Mesopotamia to the post-industrial Midwest, faculty in the Department of History research and publish in a wide range of specialized historical fields. The importance of our work for other historians is attested by the numerous fellowships and awards received by department members, but historical research produced here at Auburn also reaches much wider audiences through interviews, collaborative public projects, and even major motion pictures.
While the chronological and geographical breadth of scholarship produced in the Department of History offers us and our students the opportunity for productive exchanges of ideas across traditional boundaries, over time the department has also evolved strengths in several key areas of historical research. These strengths, and the Auburn faculty associated with each one, can be further explored through the links to the left.
