Auburn University’s main campus is located in Auburn, Alabama. Situated in the east-central portion of the state, where the Piedmont joins the Coastal Plain, the Auburn area experiences mild winters and otherwise moderate temperatures. University enrollment exceeds 25,000 students, and the twin cities of Auburn and Opelika have more than 100,000 residents. While large enough for adequate shopping, dining and recreational opportunities, Auburn still retains that "Small College Town" ambience. The sister campus Auburn University-Montgomery (AUM) is located in Montgomery, which is 50 minutes away. Au.D. students complete some academic coursework and clinical practicum experiences at the AUM campus.
Because Auburn is close to several larger cities, students find the shopping and night-life of the big cities within easy reach. Auburn is 35 minutes from Columbus, Georgia; 50 minutes from Montgomery, the capital of Alabama; 90 minutes from Atlanta and Birmingham; and 3-4 hours from the Florida Gulf Coast. Students occasionally spend warm-weather weekends basking in the sun along the white sands and turquoise water of the Gulf beaches.
