Lonyla Henton, a graduating senior from Foley, Alabama, has been named the summer 2025 graduation marshal for the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University.

Henton will graduate with an undergraduate degree in psychology as part of Auburn’s Accelerated Bachelor/Master Program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She is one of the first in her family to attend Auburn, worked her way through college and completed her undergraduate degree in only three years.

“Auburn has taught me independence, maturity, how to advocate for myself and how to get comfortable with doing things out of my comfort zone,” Henton said. “It has taught me how to navigate the real world to my best potential.”

Henton’s undergraduate research focused on using artificial intelligence tools to improve the accuracy of psychometric assessments, or the tests that map a person’s personality and behavioral traits.

“I have always loved helping people, so psychology has always resonated with me,” Henton said. “I want to positively impact as many people as I can on their journeys in life. Specifically, I hope to work in a consulting role that allows me to help influence employee well-being in the growing workforce.”

After graduation, Henton will remain at Auburn to complete her Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She hopes to one day start a career in consulting to improve workplace culture, leadership development and employee wellbeing through organizational psychology.

“Lonyla’s dedication to working hard and leading with heart make her an excellent representative of the College of Liberal Arts,” said Dean Jason Hicks. “We congratulate her on this well-deserved honor and look forward to welcoming her back for her graduate career, during which she will no doubt continue to excel.”

The university will host the College of Liberal Arts commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 9. The commencement address will be delivered by Auburn alumnus Neil Lamb ’92.

Additional information, including updates regarding inclement weather, is available on the commencement website and information will be posted on the Facebook and Instagram accounts.

All ceremonies will be livestreamed, with recordings available on the commencement website following the weekend festivities, and graduates and their families are encouraged to check the website regularly for updated information.
