Journalism Minor

The 18-hour journalism minor introduces students to the role of the news media in American society and the basic skills necessary for the practice of the field. The minor requires 9 hours of foundations course work and 9 hours of course work at the 3000 level and above. Students must talk with their advisors to identify appropriate area course work and ensure that they meet the prerequisites for each course. Students must earn at least a 2.0 in the minor to successfully complete it. The minor is open to all undergraduate students.

Sport Communication Minor

The 18-hour minor in sport communication examines the role and place of sports in society and introduces students to sports production techniques. The minor requires 9 hours of foundations course work and 9 hours of CMJN and JRSP coursework at the 3000 level and above. Students must talk with their advisors to identify appropriate area course work and ensure that they meet the prerequisites for each course. Students must earn at least a 2.0 in the minor to successfully complete it. The minor is open to all undergraduate students.

NOTE: Students should meet with the minor’s advisor prior to declaring. Due to high course demand, students should declare these minors as early as possible. Those declaring the minor at the end of their junior year or during their senior year may be unable to complete the minor’s coursework prior to graduation. Students must speak with their advisors to identify appropriate area course work and ensure that they meet the prerequisites for each course.
