Men on Boats

Men on Boats

By Jaclyn Backhaus
Directed by Scott Phillips
Movement by Jeri Dickey

Based on the journals of explorer John Wesley Powell, Men On Boats brings to life a daring expedition through the Grand Canyon, reimagined through a contemporary lens with cast of all women. This bold production surges forward with courage, wit, and unrelenting spirit — and asks who gets remembered and who is written out of history. With humor and striking physical storytelling, the play captures the tenacity it takes to confront the unknown and the bravery required to lead the way into uncharted territory. As ambition and camaraderie collide with the myths of conquest, Men on Boats invites audiences to reconsider the stories we inherit, and to question what endures when history is retold from a different point of view.

Men on Boats is presented by arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service Collection. (www.dramatists.com
