In keeping with higher education standards, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures is now the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

The name has been changed to better reflect their offerings and to use more inclusive language.

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures provides students with the linguistic, cultural, and practical knowledge to succeed in the global workforce, and in future graduate studies.

"Our courses foster strong communication and critical thinking skills. Our offerings are diverse and range from basic, intermediate, and advanced language courses to upper-level content courses in literature and culture, linguistics, film, and business," said Traci O'Brien, chair of the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

Through study abroad and exchange programs, internships, and accessible online classes, students will learn to live, work, and thrive in an increasingly global environment.
