Health services administration student earns national recognition in ACHE essay competition
The Auburn University College of Liberal Arts is proud to announce that health services administration student Isabella Martin placed second in the undergraduate division of the 2025 Richard J. Stull Essay Competition, hosted annually by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Martin’s achievement marks the 11th consecutive year an Auburn student has either placed in or won this prestigious national competition, continuing a long-standing tradition of excellence within the program.
Her award-winning paper, “Reputation Management in Healthcare Organizations: Navigating the Challenges of Social Media in the Digital Age,” examines how health care organizations must strategically manage their reputations in an era of instantaneous online feedback and viral content.
Martin will be recognized at the ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership in March, where she will present her paper and receive a $2,000 award.
“We are so proud of Isabella and the incredible work she did on this essay,” said Jay Pickern, assistant professor of health services administration in the Department of Political Science. “The topic of reputation management in the age of social media is incredibly timely, given how quickly a negative review or viral video can damage an organization. We are excited for Isabella to share her work with industry leaders at the ACHE Congress this March.”
Reflecting on her accomplishment, Martin said she is grateful for the support she received throughout the process.
“I am incredibly excited and thankful for this opportunity and for the guidance and encouragement Dr. Pickern and the faculty have shown me,” she said. “Their support has been invaluable.”
Martin’s recognition highlights both her academic achievement and the continued national impact of Auburn’s health services administration program.
