Communications + Marketing Intern
Hound Media House on the hunt for a driven and out-of-the-box thinking intern to join the team. We are looking for someone who challenges themselves to think about the stories we tell from fresh and unexpected angles. Must be a lover of organization and a self-starter who is ready to learn on the fly.
A strong candidate is looking to kick start a career in communications and is willing to and effective at working remotely. This internship will be conducted mainly through email, phone calls and zoom calls. Ideally, the candidate can contribute 15-20 hours a week. Julie Montgomery, founder, has more than 20 years of experience in the combined fields of television production and public relations. She began her career in New York City, where she worked for the Late Show with David Letterman. What began as an internship eventually led to becoming senior talent booker for the award-winning show. After almost nine years at Late Show, Julie made a jump to MTV as director of East Coast production talent. While there, she booked and cast celebrities for shows that were in development for the network.
After a decade in NYC, Julie relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, and first joined Garden & Gun magazine. She planned events for the award-winning publication with notable chefs, writers, and other personalities around the Southeast. Julie launched Hound Media House in 2014, a strategic media communications company focused on building brands and talents in the lifestyle, hospitality and entertainment industries.
Internship Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with overall communications strategy for multiple clients, across platforms including traditional media (digital + print), social media, partnerships and collaborations
- Developing and maintaining press materials (bios, fact sheets, photo assets, etc.), media lists, calendar invites, agendas, recaps and statuses.
- Brainstorming fresh ideas for ongoing PR initiatives.
- Maintaining data bases used on a daily basis including event calendars, editorial calendars, entertainment calendars
Qualifications:
- Weekly commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks
- Off the charts written and verbal communication skills.
- A team player who is comfortable in a quick-paced, autonomous work environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
- Digital media savvy (experience with social media management and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus).
