AUC writing intern job description 

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to join our team as a journalism/communications intern. The intern should work well in a team environment. Applicants must have strong communication skills, demonstrate creativity and be detail oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Create content for Auburn Undercover and 247Sports in line with requests and weekly plan from Auburn Undercover writers and staff
  • Assist in content development for social media and other platforms
  • Contribute ideas on how to boost customer/audience engagement
  • Assist with research and writing/editing
  • Participate in meetings and events
  • Conduct interviews and upload website content 
  • You will also be offered the opportunity to write articles which you can add to your portfolio

This internship will allow you to gain hands-on experience working for an established sports media website and video podcast. You will work under the guidance of senior journalists and assist them in their responsibilities. 

Your duties may require you to investigate, research and fact-check information, uncover interesting stories, report the news, book guests, conduct interviews and handle administrative work. You will observe and participate in the planning and production of video podcasts. There will also be on-air opportunities. 

Qualifications:

Seeking a degree in advertising, public relations, journalism, telecommunication or related field

Excellent written and verbal skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently

Highly organized

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Proficient on social media platforms (Instagram, X, TikTok, FB, YouTube, Threads, etc.)
