Cambrie Berard (COMM)
ESPN Stats and Information Department, Bristol, CT. I work in three different areas:
Content: research original content for use on digital media and show support, including graphics for TV, anchor lead-ins, and original pieces; provide live updates to talent in studio. Determine proper treatment of games & news stories on BottomLine by writing effective news headlines and ensuring 100 percent accuracy.
Stats & Analysis: manage and analyze real-time scoring and play-by-play data that powers every ESPN platform and generate insightful content through the use of video tracking and vast statistical warehouses.
Sports Analytics: create and evaluate sports metrics, formulate algorithms, and ensure integration of that content across all platforms.
I found this internship by Googling ESPN Internships and finding DisneyCareers.com. My advice would be continue to reach out and network. Before, during, and after your internship.
The most important thing I have learned is how much relationships matter at your workplace. Even being at one of the largest companies in the world and being able to do what I love everyday, relationships are what have stood out the most.
My advice would be to never stop trying! Most likely you’ll never get the first internship or first job, because something better is always around the corner!
