Witte co-edits new book on wellbeing in veterinary medicine

Tracy Witte

Tracy Witte, professor of clinical psychology in Auburn University’s College of Liberal Arts, has co-edited a new book examining wellbeing, mental health and systemic challenges facing veterinary professionals.

“Wellbeing for Veterinarians and the Veterinary Team” takes an evidence-based approach to understanding distress and resilience across the veterinary profession. Rather than focusing solely on individual coping strategies, the book examines the organizational and professional environments that shape wellbeing, including workplace culture, professional stressors and organizational dynamics.

Witte contributes her expertise as a clinical psychologist and suicide researcher to the book's examination of suicidality in veterinary medicine, specifically within veterinary professionals. She is director of Auburn University's Wellness Identity Trauma and Translational Equity Laboratory and director of clinical training, as well as a professor of clinical psychology. Her research and clinical expertise center on suicidal behavior and related areas of psychopathology.

“Wellbeing for Veterinarians and the Veterinary Team” is designed for both educational and professional settings, providing a science-based understanding of wellbeing alongside strategies for fostering healthier veterinary workplaces.
