Endowed Alumni Professor of French Evelyne M. Bornier has been named Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques ("Knight in the Order of Academic Palms"), one of the highest honors awarded by the French Republic. Established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808, this prestigious order recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to education, culture and the promotion of the French language.
