Art and Art History hosting iron pour, transforming scrap into art

People pouring hot iron into a container

Join the Department of Art and Art History on Friday, March 22 from 2-5 pm at the 3D Art Building for an unforgettable experience at an iron pour put on by professors, visiting artists and students.

Visiting artist Jeremy Entwistle along with art students will create a custom iron cupolette furnace fueled by waste oil that will melt down iron, transforming everyday items like bathtubs, radiators, sinks and pipes into works of art.

There will also be a pop-up exhibition of artwork by visiting artists, students and faculty in the 3D Gallery to see the art that results from the pour.

Guests should bring:
- Camp chair/folding chair
- Snacks/water

All attendees under the age of 18 must be chaperoned by an adult.

Additional information on how to purchase and make your own custom tile will be forthcoming.

The event is sponsored by Biggio Center Breeden Grant, Sabel Steel, Specialty Foundry Products, Auburn Recycles, AU Campus Dining Services and the Department of Art and Art History.

The 3D Art Building is located at 1092 W. Samford Ave, Auburn, AL. For more information, contact Associate Professor Kristen Tordella-Williams at kmt0070@auburn.edu.
