About Me

Robin Jaffe served as production manager and faculty technical director for the Auburn University Department of Theatre and has also worked as a scenic, lighting and/or sound designer for over 40 Auburn Theatre productions as well as technical director for over 100 university productions and events since his arrival in 1992. Jaffe also served as the facilities/administration project advisor for the College of Liberal Arts, having advised on projects since 2011 totaling more than $100,000,000.

Jaffe has been a member USITT since 1982 and is a member of the Health and Safety, Education, and Technical Production Commissions. He serves as a judge and contributing editor for the Tech Expo Committee and its biennial juried exhibition and publication. He has chaired the sessions “Animals in Productions” and “Theatre Students with Disabilities” at the national conferences in Houston and Cincinnati. He has been a contributing presenter for the education commission for their poster presentation since its inception in 2008.

In 2011, the USITT National Conference in Charlotte, NC, through a juried process, chose him to present three separate papers on theatre education and related techniques. In 2014 and 2016, he presented two papers each and served on two separate panels each year. He serves on the USITT-SE Executive Committee and acted as webmaster for the USITT-SE website.

Jaffe serves on the Auburn chapter of the AAUP as listserv director and webmaster and is the chapter president-elect. He has served on many of the standing university and senate committees including steering, safety, multicultural diversity, concessions board, persons with disabilities, and master plan committees. From  2011-2012 he served as the University Senate secretary-elect and on the Senate Executive Committee. In 2012-2013 he served as the University Senate secretary and was on the Senate Executive Committee. He has served on the scheduling and calendar committee for nearly 12 years and spent eight of those years as chair, while presenting to the senate the academic calendar for the last ten years.

Before joining the Auburn faculty, Jaffe served as technical director at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, and at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. Working professionally throughout the United States, he has had the opportunity to work with many international and national touring productions and performers, including but not limited to the following groups and individuals:

Jaffe received his BA in theatre arts from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey and his MFA in technical production from the University of Memphis
