About Me
Millian Giang Pham is a first-generation college graduate and a cycle breaker. After trampling in the muddy rice fields of Vietnam then learning to read product labels in supermarket aisles in the United States, Millian Pham self-funded her BFA in painting and printmaking from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. She further disappointed her family with an MFA in sculpture from the University of Florida and by developing an art practice that critiques social and cultural expectations through the mediums of painting, printmaking, sculpture, performance, and installation. With her unapologetic works, Millian Pham hopes to offer validation and healing to those who suffered unkindness at the hands of people and institutions closest to them. Her visual research has been exhibited nationally and internationally in Canada, Pakistan, Korea, Nepal, and across the United States. Pham was an artist-in-resident for the I-Park Artist Enclave, Hambidge Art Center, ACRE, Santa Fe Art Institute, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Connect International Residency, Pollinator Coop, and Graves Mill Farm. Prior to coming to Auburn University, Millian Pham taught at the University of Alabama, Santa Fe College, and the University of Florida. She brings knowledge and expertise in a wide range of different mediums and disciplines.
