Jonathan Hallford is an academic advisor, educator and higher education leader with nearly 20 years of experience at Auburn University. His work sits at the intersection of student success, career development and professional advocacy — helping students find their footing academically while championing the advisors who support them.
A current member of the NACADA Board of Directors (2023–2026), Jonathan has built a national reputation in the academic advising profession through leadership roles spanning conference chair, region chair, mentor for Emerging Leaders and steering committee member. He brings the same problem-solving mindset and people-first approach to a 14,000-member global association that he brings to every student interaction.
Jonathan is also the co-creator, host and production manager of the Advising 2 Bits Podcast, producing content that enhances the advising experience by spotlighting Auburn University resources and helping students and advisors get the most out of what Auburn has to offer. The Advising 2 Bits podcast is a NACADA Region 4 Certificate of Merit winner.
In the classroom, he teaches Liberal Arts Career Preparation (LBAR 2010) — empowering students to identify their strengths and chart confident pathways from college to career — and Freshman Exploration (HONR 1077), where he helps incoming Honors College students take their first confident steps into college life. From day one to graduation day, Jonathan is invested in the full arc of the student experience.
Outside of work, Jonathan is married to Keri, registrar at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, and together they are raising their daughter, Margot. He serves as production manager and volunteer board of directors member for the East Alabama Community Ballet, bringing the same organizational leadership and community commitment to the arts that he brings to higher education. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Adult Education at Auburn University — a reflection of his belief that growth, learning and service go hand in hand.
