Hallford to serve on NACADA Board of Directors
Jonathan Hallford, an academic advisor in the College of Liberal Arts, has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. The NACADA Board of Directors is the official governing body of the association and has primary responsibility for the association’s strategic plan and allocation of resources. Hallford will serve a three-year term and participate in efforts to promote the development of students through effective advising programs and personal attention.
“Being elected to this NACADA leadership position is not only a fine tribute by one's peers but is also recognition of significant professional contributions to and excellence in the field of academic advising,” said Terri Farr, president of the NACADA Board of Directors.
The NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising was chartered as a non-profit organization in 1979 to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to ensure the educational development of students. Since its beginning, NACADA has grown to include more than 10,000 members consisting of faculty members, professional advisors, administrators, counselors and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal and vocational needs of students. In addition, NACADA is the representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.
Hallford has been an advisor at Auburn since 2006. He received his master's degree in administration of higher education and his bachelor's degree in education from Auburn University and is currently working toward a PhD in adult continuing education and teaching. He has extensive experience working with students both as an advisor and as an admissions advisor intern at Auburn University.
Hallford was also a mentor for NACADA's 2020-2022 Class of Emerging Leaders and is co-host of the podcast “Advising Two Bits.” He received the Region 4 Joyce C. Jackson Service Award in 2021 for his volunteer service to Region 4 and NACADA.
