About Jennifer Slay
Assistant Clinical Professor

Jennifer Slay is an assistant clinical professor of social work. Slay received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and her MSW from the University of Alabama. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). Slay has experience working in the healthcare field, assisting and advocating for individuals who are HIV positive. She has attended HIV Advocacy Day at the state capital for many years. Slay worked in the Housing Opportunities for Person’s with AIDS (HOPWA) program, providing stable housing to individuals at risk of losing their homes. Slay worked as the social work supervisor at Unity Wellness Center in Opelika, AL, an AIDS service organization. While working at Unity Wellness Center, Slay served as a field instructor for both undergraduate and master's level social work students at Auburn University.

Slay also has experience providing in-home counseling services to individuals involved in the foster care system, a program coordinated through DHR. Slay has provided services to both children and family members involved in the foster care process. Slay teaches practice methods courses and serves on the field committee for the social work program.
