About John Dyck
Post Doctoral Fellow in Aesthetics
John Dyck defended his dissertation in June 2019 at the CUNY Graduate Center. He works in various corners of value theory, especially as they pertain to aesthetic and artistic value. Many aspects of value theory -- normativity, psychology, and agency -- benefit from attention to aesthetic phenomena. Dyck argues that we have authority and agency over aesthetic values in ways that we don't have over other kinds of values, like moral or epistemic values.
