Larry Andrew Wise is the newest addition to the Auburn University Speech and Hearing Clinic (AUSHC). In addition to his position as an assistant clinical professor of audiology, Wise will provide hearing health care throughout the year as an AUSHC audiologist. Wise supervises student clinicians while also providing a full range of services for clients of all ages in the community.

“The AUSHC has always maintained the highest level of patient care,” Wise said. “As a training institution, we place the utmost importance on training students to put patients’ needs first. We also focus on evidence-based practice and engage with academic faculty to remain at the forefront of clinical research.”

As a graduate of Auburn’s Doctor of Audiology program, Wise saw the open position as a chance for him to return to a special place while still furthering his career.

“Auburn has always been close to my heart. After graduation, I kept a keen interest in the success of the program. I have always felt the pull to teach and help mold the next generation of audiologists. As soon as the opportunity presented to join the faculty, I knew it would be a great place to grow my professional career.”

The Department of Communication Disorders felt the same way. Dr. Nancy Haak, chair of the department, knew that Wise would be a great asset to the university and to the clinic with his unique experience.

“We were delighted to welcome Dr. Wise back ‘home,’” said Haak. “He returns with both personal and professional experience in serving the hearing needs of military personnel. He brings research and clinical proficiency from a broad variety of audiology specialties, particularly enjoying the further investigation of tinnitus and balance disorders.”

Wise encourages the local community to visit the AUSHC, whose services include audiological assessment, auditory treatments, and speech/language assessment and treatment for all ages.

“The clinic has provided excellent service to the Auburn community for over 50 years,” Wise said. “We work hard to ensure we provide the best possible patient care while engaging in innovative research and cutting edge technology. I feel the combination of these factors make the AUSHC one of the best locations for patients of any age.”

The clinic is located on the first floor of Auburn University’s Haley Center and is open for appointments Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. To make an appointment, call (334)844-9600.
