Theatre presents 'Dancing Community: Cultivating Our Roots"
Written by Rachele DeLuca | Department of Theatre
Auburn University’s Department of Theatre annual dance concert invites all students, faculty, staff, and guest artists to come together and create a community through dance. Conceived and directed by Auburn Theatre’s dance instructors, Adrienne Wilson and Jeri Dickey, “Dancing Community: Cultivating Our Roots” will feature the Auburn University Dance Ensemble, along with many guest choreographers’ works. Beginning March 21st and running until March 24th, “Dancing Community: Cultivating Our Roots” will share their experiences on-stage.
The Department of Theatre continues to celebrate Alabama’s Bicentennial and embraces dance not only from Alabama, but from all over the world.
“Our dance tribe reaches far and wide to honor and embrace our mentors and colleagues, educators and the creative process, performers and choreographers.” Wilson explained, “Regional, national and international roots and branches connect our dance community in diverse and exciting ways as we create deep and long-lasting connections.”
“Dancing Community: Cultivating Our Roots” brings together a variety of pieces from tap to aerial silks to highlight the lush, diverse lives of those who inhabit this state.
“Please join us and our guest artists for an evening of dance that explores who we are, where we come from, and who we hope to become,” Wilson said.
