Which class has been your favorite at Auburn so far?
So far, my favorite class at Auburn has been British Literature after 1789 with Dr. Chase Pielak. This was one of my core classes during freshman year and it really reminded me why I chose to study English Literature. The class was always exciting and lots of discussion took place between students. Everyone in the class got to know each other well and the professor encouraged us to be as creative as possible on our class projects. I felt comfortable expressing my ideas and opinions in the classroom and have been lucky to have many classes like this since.

What is the best technology-based resource at Auburn?
Canvas is definitely the best technology based resource at Auburn if you take full advantage of everything it offers. It keeps you updated on class assignments and grades, gives you a calendar, and provides an easy way to contact others. Often, I use Canvas to contact my classmates if I need help or advice with an assignment. Canvas is easy to navigate and organizes your classes in a manageable way. I think using Canvas has definitely taken away some of the stress of juggling multiple classes during a semester.

What do you wish someone had told you before you started as a student at Auburn?
Before I became a college student, I wish somebody would have told me that college is not always about stressing and studying. During freshman year I was too focused on my grades to get really involved on campus. Slowly, I learned that I could have a wonderful social life with friends while maintaining the GPA I wanted. There are so many academic resources at Auburn to help you stay on track and be a balanced student. I learned not to be too harsh on myself and have fun while I’m in college.

Where are your favorite places to study on campus?
My favorite place to study on campus is the fourth floor of the RBD Library. I personally enjoy studying with no distractions and go here when I need complete silence to focus on my studying. For a little background noise, I love going to the Lowder Starbucks to do homework and grab a coffee. It’s a great place to meet friends or just hang out to review my notes.

How do you balance your social and academic obligations?
To balance my social and academic responsibilities, I like to stay on a schedule and use a planner to manage my time. I do homework right away when I get home to my apartment, before I have time to get comfortable and lazy. This way, I finish my homework immediately and have the rest of the afternoon for any organizations that I am involved in. Sticking to a schedule is the best way to stay accountable and to make sure you don’t cram studying or procrastinate on assignments.
