Band patron receives recognition for teaching
A long-time band supporter and Auburn alumna recently received two prestigious awards. Sara Kiser was selected as the 2020 Teaching Excellence Award recipient by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP, a global accrediting agency with over 1,100 member campuses, is the only specialized body for business schools that presents a teaching award open to its entire membership.
Kiser was also a recipient of a Women of Excellence Award from Alabama State University. The award honors women faculty, staff, students, and administrators on ASU’s campus for great service, leadership, strength and spirit of excellence.
“Sara Kiser has been a friend to our college for many years. She is an exceptional scholar and teacher, and we congratulate her on these deserving awards,” said Joseph Aistrup, dean of the College of Liberal Arts.
Kiser, a professor of management at Alabama State University, received her PhD in business management from Auburn University. She was previously a professor and vice president and dean at Judson College. She has served in teaching positions at Auburn University and Auburn Montgomery. A member of the Board of Directors for the Society for the Advancement of Management, Kiser has been published widely in Michigan Bar Journal, Journal of Contemporary Business, Southern Business Review, and Journal of Business Ethics, among others.
A devoted patron of the Auburn Band Program, she and her husband established the Roy and Sara Kiser Endowed Scholarship in 2018 to support students in the Auburn University Marching Band.
