Social Work program welcomes new clinical faculty
The Social Work program at Auburn University welcomes two new assistant clinical professors this fall.
Ashlee Davis received her undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Wyoming in 2010 and her MSW from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2013. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Colorado and will soon be a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Alabama. Davis has previously taught integrated social work practice, social work values, disproportionality and disparity across systems, as well as school social work courses. In addition, she spent the past two years in program leadership focusing on curriculum development, program facilitation and graduate student support at the University of Denver.
Prior to academia, Davis spent over a decade working with a diverse array of adolescents, young adults and their families in community mental health and school-based mental health programs. Davis’ specializations within the school setting included behavior management, trauma informed school practices, school-wide multi-tiered systems of support, and crisis intervention.
Nathan Maddox earned his undergraduate degree from Samford University and his MSW from Savannah State University. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and has experience working in a range of healthcare and mental healthcare settings, providing inpatient psychiatric care, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, case management, and education and outreach programming. Maddox has special interests in the role of economic and cultural factors in determining human behavior and self-perception and the significance of creative expression for psychological well-being. He is licensed in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy (AEDP).
Prior to joining the faculty, Maddox served as a field instructor for master’s level students at Auburn University. He teaches practice-oriented courses and assists with the MSW field education program.
