Bornier receives award from French Republic
Dr. Evelyne M. Bornier has been named Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques ("Knight in the Order of Academic Palms"), one of the highest honors awarded by the French Republic. Established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808, this prestigious order recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to education, culture, and the promotion of the French language.
Dr. Bornier received the distinction on Tuesday, Sept. 9, during a formal ceremony at the residence of the Consul Général de France in New Orleans, in recognition of her 31 years of dedicated service to teaching and promoting French language and culture in the United States.
