Opera Workshop to Perform November 4 and 6
Under the direction of Matthew Hoch and Anne Duraski, this fall’s performances feature iconic operatic repertoire of different languages and styles.
The Auburn University Opera Workshop will present their fall performances on Tuesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 6. Both performances will be in Goodwin Recital Hall at 7:30 pm. This semester’s opera workshop performance brings together scenes from four completely different styles of opera: one Italian, one English, one German, and one American. While some semesters of opera workshop have been devoted to performing complete works, this semester brings a different breadth to our program, allowing undergraduate voice majors to sample contrasting repertoire by four of history’s greatest operatic composers. Opera students will perform scenes from Weber’s Der Freischütz, Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Copland’s The Tender Land. Tickets are $5 for students and children, $10 for general admission, and will be sold at the door one hour prior to the event.
