Fall Orchestra Auditions Announced
Auditions for the Auburn University/Community Orchestra will be held on Friday, August 14; Monday, August 17; and Tuesday, August 18. These auditions will be 3:00-6:00 pm in the orchestra library (Goodwin Room 126). No appointment is necessary. Alternatively, auditions may be arranged by contacting Music Director Howard Goldstein at 334-844-3167 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Updated audition repertoire can be found on this page: http://www.cla.auburn.edu/music/prospective-students/ensembles/orchestra/.
Auditions will consist of the following:
- A solo of the candidate’s own choosing, such as the first movement of a standard concerto or sonata, or any piece that demonstrates both technical and lyrical abilities.
- Orchestral excerpts (available on the orchestra page above in PDF format)
If material on a page is bracketed, play only that material; otherwise, play the entire page. If you are not familiar with these excerpts, please listen to recordings of them so that you will be aware of proper tempi, style, etc. If you play an auxiliary wind instrument (English horn, bass clarinet, contrabassoon, etc.) and would like to audition on that instrument as well, contact Dr. Goldstein at email@example.com for appropriate excerpts.
