1.  Why did you want to become a collegiate band director?

Students between the ages of 18-22 make decisions that will change the rest of their lives. For the first time, they are living away from parents and the structure of high school. Working with college students gives me the best opportunity to set a positive example and mentor students, in an effort to keep them on the right track and lay a foundation for a successful professional future. I also enjoy the higher level of music making and performance that we can achieve at the collegiate level as well as the passion, spirit, and support of the athletic band scene.

2.  What was the atmosphere of the AUMB when Auburn won the SEC Championship and knew they were going to Pasadena? I sensed an even greater level of excitement from the students this year than in 2010 because it was all so unexpected. It is always special to perform on the game’s biggest stage, so it was a very emotional evening for the entire program.

3.  What was the best part of the trip to the Rose Bowl?

Seeing and hearing the band on the field for pregame and halftime are the most special to me. I have a huge feeling of pride when I see all of the hard work pay off at such a major event. That was the case in 2010 and in the Rose Bowl this year.

4.  What should prospective students know about the Auburn University Marching Band?

The AUMB is a close-knit family that takes great pride in outstanding performance and ambassadorship for Auburn University. Our students represent every college on campus and make memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
