Tyrone Jackson is the quintessential jazz piano player. His boundless creativity, coupled with harmonic mastery, utilizes the piano as a blank canvas. Jackson is nationally recognized and has traveled the world as a solo artist and sideman.
As a composer, Jackson's original music has been a source of inspiration. He has composed for Pulitzer Prize-winning author Natasha Trethewey’s book of poems "Native Guard" turned theatrical play, Pearl Cleage’s play, "Tell Me My Dream", "Ethel", “Nick’s Flamingo Grill” and the 2023 release of North Carolina Black Repertory Theater’s “Phenomenal Woman”. Jackson's unique compositions can be found in his 4 Albums—“Dedicated”, “Another Voyage”, “Melody In Nede”, and latest release “From The Mind Of.”
Currently, Tyrone Jackson is not just a performer and composer, but also a respected educator at Auburn University where he is the applied piano teacher of commercial music. Jackson's influence extends beyond the university, as he is also a clinician and teacher for the Rialto Arts Jazz program for middle school and the Clayton County Arts Association. Jackson is also a doctoral student at Georgia State University seeking a Ph.D. in Music Education.
