Travis Evans directs the Social Affect and Behavior Integrative Neuroscience (SABIN) Laboratory at Auburn University. He received his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Miami in 2019. Prior to joining Auburn, he completed his clinical internship at the VA Boston Healthcare System and his postdoctoral training as part of the joint Neuropsychiatry Translational Research (NeTReF) program between the VA Boston Healthcare System and Massachusetts General Hospital. Broadly, his research focuses on betterĀ understanding, and ultimately treating, neural circuit and motivational system dysfunction that contributes to social avoidance across internalizing disorders. His work uses an experimental psychopathology framework along with multiple methods such as fMRI, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and computational modelling. Currently, his research is funded by the NIMH to use fMRI-guided TMS to alleviate social motivation dysfunction in adults with Major Depressive Disorder or Social Anxiety Disorder.
