Robert Nagel did undergraduate work at Stanford and UC Berkeley, ending with a BS in an interdisciplinary field called natural resource management. He then taught high school on the California coast and edited books for a small publisher before pursuing graduate degrees in 20th-century American literature and poststructural critical theory at Cal State, Sonoma, at Florida, and at South Carolina. He specializes in balancing academic currents of disciplinary fusion and diffusion.
