Richard graduated with Honors from Auburn University’s Aviation Management program in 1984. After commissioning in the United States Air Force, he earned his Silver Wings at Columbus AFB, Mississippi. He went on to fly C-141 cargo aircraft before discovering his passion for teaching as a T-37 flight training instructor.
Throughout his Air Force career, Rich served in a variety of roles within the USAF Reserves, ultimately retiring with the rank of Major in 2005.
His civilian aviation career has been equally distinguished, including corporate flight operations, commercial airline service, and a 25-year tenure with UPS as both a pilot and flight training instructor.
Since 2023, Rich has continued to share his experience and enthusiasm for aviation by working with Auburn University’s School of Aviation. He is deeply passionate about helping others achieve their goals in the aviation industry.
