About Me
Matt Gist holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre design and technical production from Western Michigan University. In 2010, he earned his Master of Fine Arts in technical production from Florida State University. Outside of his schooling Gist has worked professionally in theatre, musical theatre, and opera. He has worked for several notable companies including the Asolo Repertory Theatre, Texas Shakespeare Festival, and Opera New Jersey. At Auburn, Gist is the instructor for the Theatre Tech 1 class and lab as well as oversees students in Scene Shop Production Practicum. At work, you may find him working alongside students on stage and in the scene shop instructing in the various areas required to put up a production for the department. He enjoys many pursuits when not working on a production including traveling, camping and hiking.
