Kathryn Nelson, PhD, has been teaching in higher education for six years as an adjunct professor. Her background is mostly in the corporate world; she has over 20 years of experience developing and implementing corporate training programs for the teleconferencing industry and electrical industry. Her research and work have focused on workforce education, organizational behavior, leadership development and instructional design.
She earned her master's degree in adult education in 2013 followed by a doctorate in adult education in 2016, both from Auburn University. Since earning her PhD, she has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses at Auburn University. She currently teaches AVMG 3810: Professional Development in Aviation along with teaching UNIV 1050: First Year Seminar. Dr. Nelson works full-time as a senior instructional designer for METCOR/LSI and is involved with several projects that are dedicated to developing educational programs and courses for all branches of the military.
Dr. Nelson is a proud mother to a very energetic and fun 17-year-old son, Cole. She is also a licensed Part 107 UAS pilot and enjoys flying drones, reading, traveling and cooking.
