About Me

Jesse Aultman is a Student Academy Award winning producer and screenwriter. A graduate of the University of Southern California’s MFA Film & TV Production program, he co-wrote and produced Neither Donkey Nor Horse, a recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant. The film won a 2024 Student Academy Award, a DGA Student Award, and premiered at the 51st Telluride Film Festival.

Neither Donkey Nor Horse was later longlisted at the 97th Academy Awards for “Best Live Action Short" and was acquired by JJPR Agency for an official Oscar campaign. Jesse was also nominated for a Humanitas Prize for “Best Short Screenplay.”

Originally from Alabama, Jesse's passion for storytelling was shaped by urban legends and campfire stories. These stories instilled in him a fascination with the mystical, the unknowable, and the supernatural.

This influence is evident in his work, including The Spirit Became Flesh, which he wrote and directed as an advanced project at USC. The film was awarded both the Fox Studios Fellowship Scholarship and the Irving Lerner Endowment Finishing Fund. It was an official selection at Screamfest, Dances With Films, and many others before being acquired by Alter.
