Gargi Sawhney received her BA in English from Delhi University in 2002, BA in psychology from Northeastern Illinois University in 2005, and PhD in industrial-organizational psychology from Old Dominion University in 2016. Prior to joining the faculty at Auburn University in fall 2019, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Clemson University and an assistant professor of psychology at University of Minnesota Duluth. Her research predominantly focuses on occupational health psychology, with an emphasis on occupational stress and safety. With respect to occupational stress, she is interested in occupation-specific stressors in high-risk industries. Additionally, she investigates the influence of coping and recovery strategies that employees utilize to effectively deal with work-related stressors. With regards to occupational safety, her research examines the role of individual and organizational factors on employee safety behaviors and accidents and injuries in the workplace. Her secondary research interests include examining the impact of individual and contextual factors on careless responding.
