Douglas O’Keefe received his PhD in English from Northwestern University, where he focused on the remarkably experimental decade of London theatre inaugurated by the opening of The Beggar’s Opera. Before beginning his PhD, O’Keefe worked in theatre in Boston and Chicago as a playwright and director, running The Catbox Cabaret (Cats’ Eye Theatre, Inc.), and directing shows for other companies. He was the director of the USA stage premiere of Stephen King’s Misery. His current interests include theoretical semantics and literary nonsense.
