About Me

Dr. David “Rock” Bottomlee is the Director of Flight Education at Auburn University’s School of Aviation. He earned his PhD in Public Policy and Public Administration from Auburn. Before coming to Auburn’s aviation program, he served as the Dean of the U. S. Air Force’s Air War College. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Air Force for thirty years and is a command pilot, instructor pilot, and flight evaluator with thousands of hours in fighter and trainer aircraft such as the F-16 and T-38C. He has over one hundred hours of combat flying experience and also earned an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating. His aviation experience began as a soaring instructor pilot and aerobatic demonstration pilot at the U. S. Air Force Academy where he graduated with a B.S. in Political Science.
