Anthony Dannar is an instructor in the School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University. He received his bachelor’s degree in media studies from Auburn in 2009. After a stint in radio, Dannar became a firefighter for the City of Opelika. While working as a firefighter, he spent his off-duty hours acquiring his master’s degree in communication from Auburn.
Dannar is a proponent of student-centered pedagogical techniques and encourages student participation in class. He is currently working towards his PhD in media and film at Georgia State University. His research interests include the nexus of new media and fandom studies, geek culture, and the science fiction and comic book movie genres.
