About Me

A native of Prattville, AL and alumnus of Auburn University (c/o 2015), Aaron Locklear joins the Auburn music faculty as a lecturer of percussion. Locklear is primarily a teaching-focused professional, but is also an active performer, being featured on concerts at the PAS Alabama Day of Percussion, the PAS International Convention with the inaugural All-Star Percussion Ensemble, and as a featured artist at the Great Plains International Marimba Competition. He also performed as soloist for the world premiere of 'of Melody & Pulse' from Alejandro ViƱao's Estudios de Frontera.

Other projects include performing with the Alabama, Syracuse, and Montgomery Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Skaneateles Festival Orchestra and Bemus Bay Pops. Locklear has an active history in the marching arts as front ensemble instructor with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and performing member with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps. He is also a published composer with Tapspace Publications.

Locklear holds his MM and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, BM from Auburn University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Administration of Higher Education from Auburn University. His primary teachers include Michael Burritt, Doug Rosener, Chip Ross, Jim Ross, and Jeff Grant.
