Community planning considers the past and present conditions of a community to provide a framework for the future growth of our towns and cities. Planners are concerned with critical issues surrounding the use of land, protection of the environment, public space design, infrastructure, historic preservation and more.
Active engagement with underserved communities throughout the state and region is the hallmark of our program. Through our Alabama City Year project, you’ll help diverse and complex communities create and implement plans that improve their quality of life, natural and built environment, and economic vitality.
