2013 Grant Recipients
Dr. Matthew Hoch, Department of Music, proposed a collaboration with the East Alabama Civic Chorale, during which Auburn students and faculty had the opportunity to directly apply their music training by assisting and coaching the volunteer members of the chorus. The collaboration included a public performance of the Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint-Saëns on December 3, 2013, which provided the people of Auburn-Opelika with the opportunity to engage in the local arts community.
Dr. Traci O'Brien and Dr. Iulia Pittman, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, created a program called, "Developing Global Citizens through German Language and Culture," which involved student-led events that helped expose the community to German culture through film, skits, and language lessons. The project was a collaboration with the Auburn Public Library. The civic engagement project was part of the course syllabus for students enrolled in the spring 2014 courses FLGR 3150 (Special Topics in Literature) and FLGR 4330 (German for Business, Media, and Society).
