Internship Scholarship

CLA Career Services recognizes the value of experiential learning for students when preparing for the next step beyond Auburn University. To support students in their pursuit of meaningful career experiences, our office offers the Internship Enrichment Scholarship. This scholarship provides tiered financial awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 to CLA students who have secured internships closely aligned to their career goals and who demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  1. Have completed at least 30 credit hours at Auburn toward a Liberal Arts degree.
  2. Hold a declared CLA major. (If a double major, the internship must be CLA-related to qualify.)
  3. Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  4. Have a confirmed internship offer in hand.
  5. Complete the Internship Enrichment Scholarship CANVAS module prior to submission.
  6. Be a current CLA undergraduate student for the upcoming semester (if applying for a summer internship).
  7. Involvement with CLA Career Services or events

Award Tiers

Scholarship awards will be awarded based on application, internship details, and financial need.

Tier 1: $1,000
Tier 2: $2,000
Tier 3: $3,000

Application Packet Requirements

Your application packet must include the following:

  • Resume: A current resume tailored to your internship application.
  • Essay (300–500 words):
    • Part I: Describe how this internship aligns with your career development goals and explain your financial need. 
    • Part II:
      • Articulate how you plan to apply your skills and knowledge learned in your coursework to your internship. 
      • Describe how you will leverage this internship experience to develop new competencies and further align your academic preparation with your career aspirations. 
      • Provide the following details: Is this a paid or unpaid internship and number of hours you will work (part-time or full-time).
  • Transcript: Submit an unofficial transcript.
  • Internship details and point of contact (template included in CANVAS)
  • Budget narrative outlining anticipated expenses and funding gaps (budget template included in CANVAS).
  • Letter of recommendation: Submit one letter from a professor, advisor, or supervisor familiar with your academic or professional goals. 
  • Internship coordinator approval (if required): Include proof of approval from your internship coordinator.

Scholarship Usage

Scholarship funds* may be applied to expenses such as:

  • Tuition
  • Living expenses during the internship
  • Travel or relocation costs
  • Internship-related materials (e.g., professional attire or equipment)

Submission Guidelines

Once you have completed the Internship Enrichment Scholarship CANVAS module, review the criteria and ensure your application packet is complete. Submit your application through the designated submission portal on CANVAS by the deadline.

Deadlines:

  • August 15 for fall internships
  • December 15 for spring internships
  • April 15 for summer internships
