Draughon Center Hosts Bicentennial Summer Institute for Teachers

The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities at Pebble Hill hosted “The Three ‘C’s’: Alabama and the Creek War, the Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement,” an Alabama Bicentennial Summer Institute, this past week. The professional development institute for educators of grades 3-5 was led by master teacher Harrow Strickland of Auburn City Schools and content specialist Kelly Kennington of the Auburn University Department of History. Teachers learned how to incorporate primary sources in their teaching and how to help their students draw connections between their communities, states, and nation.
