Book Talk: Roy, "Rocky" & Red Ryder

The public is invited to a book talk by Jim Vickrey, author of Roy, “Rocky” & Red Ryder; “Hoppy,” Durango & Mo[o]re, on Thursday, February 20 at 4 PM at Pebble Hill.

Roy, “Rocky” & Red Rider; Durango & Mo[o]re: Personal Recollections of What They Taught Us on Saturdays, Riding Together into the Sunset of the B-Western Movie Era, at “The Strang” & “The Bijou” and on Radio & TV is an examination of B-Western culture and its impact on Vickrey's life in the 1940s and 1950s. Vickrey will discuss his book and share his love of the Western genre.

Dr. Jim Vickrey is a native of Montgomery and an alumnus of Auburn University, Florida State University, and Faulkner University. He is a lawyer, former university president, and Professor Emeritus of Troy University. He taught courses on argumentation, communication, the law, the movies, and/or rhetoric at six Southern universities from 1965 to 2013.

The event is free, open to the public, and will be followed by refreshments. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities at Pebble Hill is located at 101 S. Debardeleben Street, Auburn.
