Warm Hearts Blanket Drive
BCPP Inclusion Ambassadors and AU students partnered with BCPP friends and families, Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, AU Nursing School, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, AU SERC, AU OIT Office, Opelika Sportsplex Adult Activity Center and others to provide 400 new blankets to those in the most need at numerous area agencies who provide services for those with limited incomes and who are experiencing health challenges. Agencies benefiting from BCPP's annual blanket drive include Central Alabama Veterans Heathcare Homeless Outreach Program (Tuskegee), Children's Specialty Care Center (Montgomery), Spencer Cancer Center, Children's Hospital of Atlanta, DVIC, Penelope House (Mobile), Auburn Housing Authority Seniors Program and several others.
Trick-or-Treat for Cans
BCPP partnered with the AU Bookstore to collect over 1,400 lbs of canned food to support the East Alabama Food Bank. Students and AU volunteers walked through campus wearing their Halloween costumes while stopping at prearranged sites to trick–or–treat for canned food items. Supporters also included the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, Department of Curriculum and Teaching, College of Liberal Arts Dean's Office, College of Liberal Arts Student Services' Office, School of Communication and Journalism, and Department of Political Science.
Art Helps and Heals the Heart
This BCPP signature program allows students to create art and write cards to foster social support for homebound seniors in their community. Another component of this program is BCPP’s Art & Photography Showcase held each spring.
Toy Drive with Auburn Fire Department
Students participated in Auburn Fire Department's holiday toy drive and partnered with the AU Office of Public Service and University Outreach to collect toys for those families who need a helping hand during the holiday season. Along with the assistance from the AU Office of Sponsored Programs, the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, and other community members, BCPP Students donated 110 toys.
