Collinsville Historical Association's marquee-lighting ceremony
Nights will soon be a lot brighter in downtown Collinsville. The Collinsville Historical Association will host, on Thursday, July 14th, 2016, a ceremony to mark the initial lighting of the completely refurbished and recently re-installed neon marquee on Collinsville's historic Cricket Theatre. Everyone is invited to attend.
The ceremony will kick off at 7:00 p.m. with live entertainment, including, among others, a special performance by the "Little Collinsville Rockettes," a troupe that includes dancers aged 3 years to 11, directed by Madison Chamblee (Auburn University) and Allie Wills Jones (Collinsville High School). The performance will be followed by brief remarks from members of the theatre's founding family and community leaders.
Admission is free, and there will be commemorative medallions for the first 200 attendees. Traditional concessions in keeping with the Theatre's original 1946 grand opening, including glass-bottled Coca-Cola and movie theatre popcorn, will be served.
