Camden youth mentoring program begins
Lauren Landers, Living Democracy in Camden, held her first mentoring session with a group of girls this week. She plans to incorporate art projects with a focus on rural Alabama. She will meet with the group every Wednesday at Black Belt Treasures.
During their first session, Landers and the girls got to know each other and made bracelets. The group will develop summer projects such as cleaning up a neighborhood park and painting a mural.
Landers said, “My hope is to expose the youth of Camden to opportunities that will benefit them and their community.”
